Summer of Depth Devotional Day 1
Walking at God’s Pace
Today we begin our Summer of Depth Devotional and Reading Plan with the first day of our 3MPH God series.
This summer is not about adding one more thing to your life. It is an invitation to slow down enough to notice where God is already at work…in your soul, your relationships, your habits, your decisions, and your everyday life.
Before anything else, slow down and read: 2 Peter 3:8–12
When you’re ready, continue with this devotional:
Most of us know what it feels like to be rushed. Rushed in the morning. Rushed in traffic. Rushed in decisions. Rushed in our own souls. And then, if we are honest, God often feels painfully slow. We pray, wait, hope, ask, and wonder, “God, are You paying attention?”
Peter tells us something we may not want to hear, but deeply need: God is not slow the way we understand slowness. His pace is not evidence that He is absent. It is evidence that He is patient. And His patience is not indifference. It is actually love.
Peter asks, “What kind of people ought you to be?” That is such a different question from the ones hurry usually asks. Hurry asks, “What can I get done?” “How fast can I fix this?” “How quickly can I move on?” But God asks, “Who are you becoming?”
So today, do not just ask God to speed things up. Ask Him to slow you down enough to notice what He is doing. His patience may be the very place where He is saving, shaping, and loving you.
Practice for Today:
Choose one 3MPH rhythm for this week: a slow meal, a slow walk, a tech fast, or a Sabbath experiment.
Then finish this sentence:
“I’m walking God’s pace by __________________.”
Let’s walk slowly enough to notice God together.
